A product is "anything
that can be offered to the market for attention, acquisition, use, or
consumption, that might satisfy a want or need." (Marketing: An
Introduction, 209)
In the bar scene, finding a pure tangible good
that satisfies both a man and a woman can be process that requires much
thought. Peanuts are popular brands because they absorb consumed alcohol and
encourage men to drink more alcohol. Females may be interested in finding a
snack to share with their friends that manages to keep the pounds off. I feel
like I might have stumbled onto something.
I plan to embrace my Filipino roots by
developing a trail-mix style of crunchy nuts and crackers that would put a new
spin on bar food. Popular Filipino cuisine dishes such as Adobo and Turon are seasoned
into the crackers and form an interesting blend of sweet and salty that would
surely be a hit in a bar scene craving for originality. This product can be
made with zero trans-fat and zero cholesterol, which could be quite appealing
for women trying to keep an eye on their weight. Much emphasis needs to be made
in establishing our brand from scratch, so our package design is top priority
for us. Our product would be sold in a 34 oz plastic bottle with the shape of
palm tree prevalent in many islands in the Philippines, especially in bars with
an overview of the beach. An asking price similar to competitors such as
Planters is what I'll charge, roughly $4 for a 34 oz. bottle.
Filipino cuisine is recent development here in
the local foodie scene, so I plan to inject some originality into the bar scene
by offering an alternative to the boring, ordinary peanut. To sum it up, introducing
popular Filipino flavors, offering a reasonable price point, and enticing
customers through our stellar packaging design is the marketing plan we’re going
for.
